TROUBLE SHOOTING FOR PC

Problem Cause Remedy
Wireless Adapter Not Operating – No Blinking Lights Adapter not plugged into computer properly or in the case of Ethernet converter, needs to be repowered. Check connections to computer. If it is an Ethernet converter, unplug power and then plug-in again to reset.
Wireless Adapter Not Operating – No Blinking Lights Adapter is not installed properly. Drivers are not installed or are in conflict with other components of operating system. Verify that you are using the supplied installation disk. Verify that you have disabled any virus protection and personal firewall software before loading wireless drivers and software. Reload software. If unable to resolve problem, call manufacturer’s technical support phone number. If you purchased your wireless adapter from IMS and it is a IMS high power PCMCIA card brand
Wireless Adapter Operating – No Signal or Low Signal Strength Reception is poor. Distance from antenna is long, line of sight is compromised by significant obstructions or there is excessive interference from other devices. Temporarily move to a location within 1,000 ft of broadcast origin with clear line of sight and test connection strength. Our antennas are normally located on the marina building or close to the slips on one of the nearby buildings. Test by following instructions on this link test page. If your ping test indicates greater than 20% packet loss you are suffering from poor reception. If you have 100% packet loss, verify that you have connected to IMS’s network (see below).
Have Signal Strength But Can’t Connect To Internet Or Login Page Reception is marginal enough to cause data transmission errors. Temporarily move to a location within 1,000 ft of broadcast origin with clear line of sight and test connection strength. Test by following instructions on this link test page. If your ping test indicates greater than 20% packet loss you are suffering from poor reception. If you have 100% packet loss, verify that you have connected to IMS’s network (see below)
Cannot Connect To Network Various causes. Verify that lights are blinking on your adapter. Follow instructions under “Connecting To The Wireless Network” on Help Desk page. Select your operating system.
