Print Papers Free with Print-on-Demand

Did you ever want to record notes on a paper during a technical session or share a paper with a colleague in the halls of the convention? Now you will be able to do this more easily thanks to Print-on-demand - a service brought to you by IMS2009.

Yes, you will be able to walk up to a kiosk, browse the content of the IMS2009 Technical Digest, and print papers right there – done! And the best part of it all is that it will be free, i.e. at no additional charge to your registration.

For the implementation details: there will be 12 kiosks readily accessible, each equipped with a 19” touch screen and a black and white printer. The display will have the look and feel of the IMS2009 Technical Digest CD ROM. In fact, the menus and navigation aids will be identical to the CD with the exception of a few additional controls such as a big “PRINT” button that should make it easier and faster to get things done.

If it’s that easy, what about the risk of abusing the system by printing large numbers of pages intentionally or by accident? To this end we have put in place some simple measures to prevent the more obvious "potential problems”, such as attempting to print the entire digest. But to say that we have devised a completely foolproof system would be presumptuous - after all, ingenuity is a distinguishing quality of our attendees! But let us appeal to the courtesy of our attendees to be mindful of others in sharing this new capability.

You can look forward to seeing the Print-on-Demand kiosks in the hallways outside the session rooms and at other convenient locations such as the main entry ways to the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The kiosks stand about 51/2 ft tall and are easily recognized by their slim construction and the Print-on-Demand Logo situated above the screen.
