Our Future Electrical Engineers and Our Future Leaders
With less than 6 weeks until the start of IMS 2009 the Student Volunteer team is entering the home stretch. As part of the Virtual Participation program, students will record, edit and upload the sessions that will be offered to those who cannot attend in person through the IEEE website. Additionally we count on students to distribute and collect the feedback forms for all of the technical sessions and workshops. Given the full program for this year, this requires a very large student team. Of course the nature of these assignments results in the majority of our volunteers being able to participate in the technical program while fulfilling their volunteer commitment.
We have had an overwhelming response from students from many countries and many campuses. To date we have over 80 students who have offered to help make IMS 2009 a success; many of whom are presenting papers, are finalists in the student paper competition or are participating in one of the design competitions as well. And we’d love to have even more of you join our team! Simply contact us at students@ims2009.org and let us know your availability. Student volunteers receive complementary full technical registration along with an invitation to attend the Thursday evening social.
This year we are also launching a new student event; the Student Career Fair. Students will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from several companies who are actively recruiting new graduates. This event will be held on Thursday afternoon from 1 to 4 pm in Room 253 ABC.
We are pleased to have such a large team of volunteers and we look forward to meeting you, to working with you and to helping make your time at IMS 2009 informative, rewarding and fun! And for those students that are not busy with volunteering duties, make sure you get to those sessions.
